In Interview with Kai Anderson 10-17-2005

Alyssa: Hi everyone! Tonight we’re talking with author Loose-Id erotic romance author Kai Anderson! Hiya Kai! Can you tell us something about your current release and what inspired you to write it?
Kai: I have two books out in the Tales of Enchantment series. These books are based on known fairy tales that we know and love. Of course, I’ve added a few twists here and there. The first one, The Question of Royalty, was based on the story of a prince who was looking to wed a real princess. You guessed it right! It’s “The Princess and the Pea”. The second one, The Quest, was about this quest for “The Golden Bird”. Both are available at Loose Id.
The latest release is The Quest. Here, the Princess Giselda sets out on a quest to rescue her fiancé. On the journey, she fell in lust with her bodyguard, Rodin, who can’t resist teaching her about the erotic arts of the bedchamber, only of course, they weren’t doing in the bedchamber! But much as Rodin loves her luscious body, he wants her heart even more. Their desperate quest may bring him destruction...or his greatest prize.
What inspired me? I love corrupting princesses! LOL I also have a thing for hunky princes (they should be. Hunky, I mean, with all those martial arts and sword fight moves that are part of their training). Gorgeous, titled and rich ... Need I say more?

Alyssa: No ... my goodness…you sell a prince well! It seems as if you’ve turned every girl’s fantasy into a woman’s fantasy. What’s better than that? It’s a brilliant idea. So, Kai, why erotic romance? What do you LOVE about the genre?
Kai: I love the freedom that comes with it, the way I can mix genres together (did I tell you about my werewolf paranormal?), for exploring ménages and other kinks, and for being allowed to describe a love scene the way it was: messy, sweaty, erotic and the purest expression of love and intimacy between two (or three or more) characters.

Alyssa: Very well said! You didn’t tell me about the werewolf, silly! Suppose readers will have to dash to your site to learn more or ... maybe more later? I just wrote my first shifter though, and they are fun! I love how in paranormal and fantasy type stories you get to break all the rules and use your imagination. Which brings me to my next question. Is there anything you don’t like to write?
Kai: As of the moment, I’m a bit squeamish about vampires. I still don’t like to read vampiric romances that much. I’m much partial to werewolves (all those raw animal instincts!), paranormals and fantasy though.

Alyssa: Hey, if we all liked vampires, there’d be no other genres! Personally, I love variety. I get bored easily. Ok, next question. Where do you see your writing career in five years?
Kai: Alyssa’s my idol. Five years from now, I hope to be very successful like her – NY-pubbed and having legions of fans. LOL But I suppose that means five years of blood and sweat too, since success doesn’t come without a price. Whatever success, I hope to still be enjoying myself -- writing my stories, lending voice to the characters in my head, and providing my loyal readers with hours of entertainment and escape.

Alyssa: You are too sweet! I’m blushing, thinking I’m someone’s idol. Thank you! My advice is to write what you love and perfect your craft…then cross your fingers for lots of luck. Every good author’s day will come, so long as you’re patient for it. Do you have any new book projects coming in the near future?
Kai: I just have to share this with you all! “Heart of the Woolf” has been accepted by Loose Id! Can anybody guess what’s it about? LOL Yup, hit it right on the nail! The hero Jake Woolf is a werewolf! I also have other projects at various stages of completion, mostly with paranormal elements. In “Mind Games”, the hero Warren Feldman has telekinetic ability. Here’s an excerpt of Warren demonstrating his power: www.kai-andersen.com/WIPMG.html. I’m also doing a super contest for this work. Frankly speaking, I’m not satisfied with the title I’ve come up with! So, I’m asking you, the readers, to help me come up with a better title. Now, isn’t that fun? Contest details are available here: www.kai-andersen.com/news.html Aside from these, ideas continually brew in my mind, one of which is an erotic urban fantasy romance, which I’m very excited about. Okay, sh… ‘nuff said.

Alyssa: This story sounds awesome! Can you tell us a bit about “Heart of the Woolf” and the characters?
Kai: Jake Woolf is a werewolf with empath abilities. I’m sure you can see the fascinating possibilities that can happen here. It does get very interesting, especially when Jake could hear and see Adrienne’s lustful fantasies! As for Adrienne, drooling over her boss didn’t help the fact that she was on the run and that somebody was coming after her. Here’s a juicy excerpt on my site: www.kai-andersen.com/WIPHOTW.html.

Alyssa: Hold on a moment ... wiping the steam from my screen! Wow, this sounds like a hit! Now that you have me all turned on, I need some chocolate. Hey Kai, what’s your favorite chocolate?
Kai: Oh yum! I love all kinds of chocolates, except for dark. But my absolute favorite is white chocolate sprinkled liberally with nuts. It’s the one thing that keeps me going when I’m hungry and didn’t want to spoil my dinner. *grin*

Alyssa: Mmmmm ... never tried white with nuts. This week, I’ve been on a chocolate cheesecake kick, and my hips are all too aware. So, Kai, how can readers find out more about you? Links ... etc ... please!
