In Interview with Willa Okati 8-11-2005Willa Okati is a long-time devotee of all things vampire and supernatural, but an even bigger fan of stories that feature beautiful men exploring their desires for one another. Physically, she lives in North Carolina, but mentally thrives in a world where each adventure is bigger and brighter than the next. She is also owned by far too many cats, but she insists that they serve as emissaries from the Muse and can’t spare a one of them. She loves to hear from readers, and you can reach her at willshenillshe@gmail.com or visit her website at www.willsheornillshe.com.Alyssa: Clue us in ... who are you? A bio, a backlist, your writing credits, or anything at all. Who are we speaking to? Willa: You're talking to Willa Okati, author of M/M erotica, with a dash of ménage here and a dab of het there. So far, my writing credits include:
Loose Id Coming Soon Alyssa: WOW! What a list! I had no idea you had so many out. What hurdles did you have to overcome before you became a published author? How long did it take you? Willa: I got fired… for spending my time writing instead of entering data. What? I couldn't help it. Word was right there, and I got absorbed, and… never write a detailed love scene if your boss can look over your shoulder and read it, that's all I'm sayin'. I'd been fired about a month when I discovered e-publishers, Changeling in particular, and took a chance. Alyssa: LOL. That’s cute. I can so see myself doing that. Luckily, my husband and kids can’t fire me. J So, do you have any specialties you love to write about? What’s your favorite part of the writing, for example, do you love to hatch out fight scenes, love scenes, threesomes ... In other words, what really makes you fingers flow? Willa: I think I'm best known for M/M erotica/romantica - although I've done some heterosexual works, they're in the minority (but they're good!) And as for writing, I adore love scenes. Deliciously titillating! For some reason, though, I seem to do well at world-building and creating secondary characters that just "pop" off the page. I'm not complaining, mind! *wink* Alyssa: I imagine I don’t need to ask this ... LOL ... but I will anyway. Why erotic romance? What do you LOVE about the genre? Willa: Sex, sex, and more sex! Smut is our friend! Or seriously ... what I love is that the gay and lesbian books are becoming more popularly accepted and read. Call me a crusader, but we like to read erotica that's not just pure porn, too. Something that has *gasp* a plot, too! LOL! I knew it! So ... about you ... Alyssa: What’s your favorite food? Willa: At the moment, anything - I'm starving! Alyssa: LOL. What’s your favorite television show? Willa: Anything Joss Whedon did. All hail Joss! Alyssa: grins I’ve never even heard of him, but I’m always a day late and dollar short. What do you think of T.V. reality shows? Willa: I would like to systematically line up the hosts in front of a firing squad and then shoot paintballs at them until they are better people. Alyssa: It’s official. You are one funny guy! Now the all telling question ... this will determine if you are good or not in so many ways. LOL. Joking. Pepsi or Coke? Willa: Neither - Cheerwine, the pride of the Carolinas! Alyssa: Again I’ve never heard of it! You have to post a reply to this and tell us what it is! I better have heard of the answer to your next question LOL. If you could go one place, anywhere at all ... tap your heels together and you’re there… where would it be? Willa: London, without a doubt, in some little one-bedroom studio/loft with my bed, my desk, a microwave, a toilet, and many groaning bookcases. What more do I need? OK, maybe a shower ... Alyssa: ROFL. Willa. You must be some fun to read. How can readers find out more about you? Links ... etc ... please! Willa: Go to http://www.willsheeornillshe.com for links to all my books, cover art, excerpts, a bio, and more! |
